To Love Struck To Title….
The morning sun shown down through the curtains into a dim gloomy room, bringing it to life along with the alarm clocks insipid buzzing, signaling the beginning to another warm summer day.
Within this room the light illuminates a full sized bed, the covers in an unorganized mess, at the foot of the bed a leg is exposed from the mess, judging by the size and hair, it belonged to a man. Suddenly the man stirs to life with a groan letting out a strained sleepy voice, “d**ned alarm clock….I’d rather face a drill sergeant…”
Climbing out of the bed he reveals his six foot, average build, his skin was not quite pale, but he could afford a bit of sun, he scratched his hairy chest as he walked in his pin striped boxers to the kitchen of his house, after turning off that ear splitting tone to his alarm clock. His mom, who is short with red hair greets him happily in her regular house wife attire, “Hey Tommy, good morning, how’s mommies’ big boy?” Tommy, still sleepy responds with an agitated tone, “I’m good mom….hey, did ummm…Haley call me last night?”
His mom responds, “Yeah, she did…you were asleep, she called at about eleven o’clock, though she said she loved you, and something about her little friend…umm…Tony I think, would be in today or something..”
Tommy eyes narrow and his face gets red, this guy Tony, was Haley’s new boy friend, you see, Tommy used to date Haley, and he loved her with all his heart, but he was stupid and dumped her for someone else, which was a mistake he would regret, and Tommy, was an extremist, and after awhile he started to get in a slum, he tried to drink Haley out of his head, and flood her away in a water fall of booze, but during the head pounding hang over she always came back.
One night they had an argument, it was about two weeks ago, he had made her cry, he calmed her down, and told her he still loved her since then, and he has tried to win her back, but he has to get rid of Tony, naturally with Tommy’s way and thought process, he hated Tony, and he hasn’t even met the guy, but Tommy seen enough pictures, and he knew exactly where he could find Tony, but Haley told Tommy to stand down, though it was hard, Tommy reluctantly agreed.
Tommy snapped back into reality, and punches the counter, “d**nit to hell!”
His mom responds in a surprised tone, “Tommy Sharp, watch your mouth!”
“Sorry mom…” Tommy replies.
His mom looks at him, “What’s got into you son, you used to be so clean, now all you do is get upset at almost anything, what’s wrong?”
Tommy says looking down, “Ah, it’s nothing, what time is it, I got to call Haley.”
“It’s about 9:00 a.m….”
Suddenly Tommy grabs the portable phone and dashes to his room, he quickly dials a number and you can hear him speaking into the phone, “Yeah…may I speak to Haley…this is Tommy..yeah, I’ll hold..”
Tommy goes quiet and suddenly you hear Haley’s voice, “Hey Tommy, morning, how are you?”
“Fine, and you?” Replies Tommy.
“I’m good, though can I let you go, Tony is here right now?” said Haley.
Tommy goes silent, “Hey, since my day is free, can I come over, and we can all hang out?”
Haley herself is silent for a second, “Sure, you can meet Tony.”
“Great!” Exclaims Tommy.
Tony quickly hangs up with Haley, he was looking forward to this, his intentions were totally opposite of his voice tone, you could see it in his eyes, Tony would not walk away in one piece.
Happily Tommy scampers over to his closet and pulls out from all the junk a black cloth backpack, obviously you can tell it’s homemade by looking at the texture and lack of labels. Tommy walks over to his bed and dumps out the contents of it, on the bed you can see two pouches fall on the bed, followed by an assortment of a few carbon steal throwing daggers, a boot knife, and a few other odds and ends, obviously weapons.
Tommy stood there for a few minutes and smiled with glee, he walks off and gets ready, after showering he stands there naked in front of his mirror and shaves off what little beard stubble he has on his face, he brushes his teeth and gets himself finely groomed. Walking out of the bathroom he grabs his cell phone and keys sitting on the dresser, then he walks to his closet, and pulls out a pair of jeans, and a plain, short sleeved black fruit of the looms T-shirt.
Tommy looked at his reflection in the mirror, his greenish blue eyes seemed to match his short black smooth looking hair. Tommy just looked at his hair, and slipped on his black Nike shoes, grabbed his wallet and then got in his black GMC Sonoma and drove off towards Haley’s house, which was about 15 minutes away.
As he was driving to Haley’s house he millions of thoughts where going through his head, and of course, they where about Tony. Tommy, unlike most, was an extremist in his actions, so he had a few ideas, first, he could beat Tony until he agrees to dump Haley. Another thing Tommy could do, would be to subliminally humiliate Tony, that was something Tommy was good at. Also, Tommy could do one more thing, something that was really insane, he could kill Tony, but then the consequences would be serious, jail time, and Tommy wasn’t sure if Haley was worth jail time.
Tommy sat there in his truck with his weapons tucked smugly in his attire, for a boy of only seventeen, he sure had a lot of weapons, and as he kept driving along the road he turned off into a small little neighborhood, like the kind with nice houses, pink lawn flamingos, etc. Tommy kept driving at a slower pace, looking at the middle class two story houses, admiring the neatly uniformed lawns.
Tommy drove up a small hill that was smoothly paved, and broke away from the suburbia look, and as massive oak trees lined the way he seen more homes, they where kind of spaced out, but it was almost like an oak forest suburb. As Tommy got to the top of the hill, it broke off, the trees where cleared, and there was a small group of houses, he pulled into the drive way of a log cabin style two story house, the black trim around the windows, and satellite dish gave it a modern look, not to mention the gleam of the artificial siding when the sun hit it.
Tommy pulled into the drive way and parked his truck, as the engine cut off, Tommy got out of his truck, the sun reflecting off his black lenses of his sun glasses, he walked slowly onto the porch, where he came to a grey door with white trim around the windows and a red and blue glass colored design of birds distorted the view of the inside of the house.
Tommy stepped up to the door and rang the door bell, his eyes filled with wonder, to what he was going to find behind that door. Suddenly he stepped back as the door opened, as a five foot nine inch, athletically built brunette came out looking at him with her brown eyes filled with happiness as she seen Tommy. This was none other then Haley, the most beautiful girl Tommy had ever laid his eyes on. She looks at him invitingly and speaks, “Hey Tommy, how are you?”
Tommy responds, “Ah, same old same old…nice shirt..”
Haley replies, “Thank you, Tony got it for me, my favorite band.” She said with a smile.
“I can tell…so are we going to stand out here all day, or are we going to go inside?” Tommy responds, in a kind of impatient manner.
As they walked in Tommy could feel adrenaline pulsing through his body, he was getting close to his target, he slid his hand onto his hip, where upon closer examination was a police issued 9mm, black, stainless steel, and on the back of the hand grip was the engraved initials “SMPD” which was Salem County Massachusetts Police Department. The thing is, what was Tommy planning on doing with this 9mm. Pretty soon he snapped out of it and back into reality.
Tommy walked behind Haley looking at the dim grayish wall paper with flowers covering it, looking up at the walls decorated in Catholic style designs, along with flowery girlish looking home interior design on the walls, but there is one thing he seen, that gave him the creeps, it was a statue of Jesus Christ, the eyes positioned almost as if they were watching Tommy. Tommy shuttered a bit as he came to bluish gray carpeted stairs that led down into another room where he could hear rock playing which gave the room a friendly and inviting feel, but regardless of this Tommy still felt paranoid and had the adrenaline rushing into him giving him a boost of energy. The lighting of a multi colored slowly rotating globe could be seen along the walls as it made its rotation.
Tommy walked down into the dark green room, he looked at the entertainment system, where he seen a big screen T.V. playing a disturbed concert, a pool table with neatly racked balls, like it was waiting to be played. And there was last but not least, a black leather sofa set, which had a couch, love seat, and a recliner. Tommy’s eyes quickly traced to a love seat, where he seen someone 5’9, well built, and like Tommy, he had a military cut, and had a shirt on that said Navy, in blue and gold letters. His blue eyes looked at Tommy in a friendly manner, though Tommy just gave a cold emotionless stare. Haley looked excitedly and said, “Tony, this is Tommy, a friend of mine.”
Tony responds, “Nice to meet you Tommy, I’m Tony, Tony Hall.” Tony reaches his hand out in friendship as Tommy reaches his hand out and says calmly, “Tommy, Tommy Sharp..” Tommy shakes reluctantly as he squeezes Tony’s hand.
Haley chimes in happily, “Tony is in the Navy, he is on leave right now.”
Tony blushes a bit, “Yeah I’m in the Navy…since I’m 19 they gave me two weeks leave.”
Tommy responds in a cold manner, “Oh, I plan on going to the Army.”
Haley looks at them both, “I’m going to go up stairs and bring you all back something nice, so you two sit here and bond, ok?” Haley kisses Tony as she runs upstairs. Tommy takes the seat across from Tony.
“So Tommy, tell me some about yourself, how did you meet Haley?” Asked Tony.
“I met her, we said hi, we kept talking.” Responded Tommy in a cold manner.
So, tell me what you think.
