Even after her successful title defense, Starstreak knew not to get too cocky. Not this week of all weeks, when she would be defending her title against a fellow female. She reclined in a chair, her kimono not quite as decently worn as it should be--as though she'd been wearing it for a couple of days, and sipped on some green tea when a knock came at the door. With a sense of solemness, she opened the door to reveal her brother Kyoichi Inashira.
Starstreak: What are you doing here, Kyoichi? You must really want me to lose this match if you're showing up tonight of all nights. Otherwise you wouldn't come here to shock my nerves you baka.
Kyoichi: Imouto-chan, I'm sorry. I know that in the past, we haven't exactly been on the best of terms. I want to make up for it.
Kyoichi set down the duffel bag that had been resting on his shoulder, unzipped it, and slid out a small, somewhat-beaten-up kendo. If anything, the kendo looked about as shabby as the room, where there was only one table with one leg being held up by a very tattered-looking chair, spiders in the bathroom, a bed that looked less-than-sleepable, and a tiny black-and-white TV that only got three channels...in good weather.
Kyoichi: Remember this? Your lucky kendo that got you through many a championship back in high school?
Starstreak: Kyoichi...
Her face looked different now. Softer? More forgiving? Or was it a sense of false kindness? Kyoichi didn't know, but he knew this: it was the first step in righting the wrongs he'd made on his sister. Then, the look on Starstreak's face became clearer as she bowed before her brother, holding the kendo over her head as a symbol of gratitude.
Starstreak: Domou arigatou, nii-sama...I will use this gift you've given me in a manner befitting of a champion.
Kyoichi: You honor me too much, little sister. I've not been honorable to you...
Starstreak: Nor have I been honorable to you, brother. I intend to pay in full...even if I have to take some of that payment out in my opponent's hide.
Kyoichi: Who is your opponent this week anyhow?
Starstreak: Dune...
Kyoichi: Aa. Another woman. So you believe you go in as equals...
Starstreak: And come out equals...though only one can be the victor...
Kyoichi: I hope on the sakura blossoms that you are the victor...even if I have to make sure of it...
Starstreak nodded to this, her resolve seemingly strengthened both by the gift given to her, and her belief of fighting an equal; gripping only her "lucky" kendo from high school, she started to make her way her way out of her Budget Motel room to catch some fresh air and have something to lean on.. Meanwhile, Kyoichi stepped outside into the cold night air and looked up at the moon. Like a wise eastern shaman, he spoke with an air of seriousness and calmness.
Kyoichi: Put cats in the coffee and mice in the tea...and welcome Queen Alice with thirty times three!
Starstreak did a spittake at that very moment, spitting her green tea over the railing and onto a rather beat-up-looking truck belonging to the manager of the motel.
Starstreak: What the hell?
Kyoichi gave the same solemn look and kept his gaze at the moon.
Kyoichi: Merry Christmas to all, now you're all gonna die.
Starstreak: Baka...
Kyoichi: A wise baka...
Starstreak: Isn't that contradictory?
Kyoichi: Isn't a cat and a mouse contradictory?
Starstreak shook her head and turned her back, knowing that she had better head out to the main arena soon, still considering that the last statement her brother made might have had some deep, philosophical meaning. After all, he may have been an idiot...but she had to admit, he was a wise idiot. Again, with a strengthened resolve, she walked away, knowing where her path would lead her next--to the ice machine. When she returned, Kyoichi was still looking up at the moon, his arms still crossed like a wise Japanese shaman would have them crossed. Starstreak set her bucket of ice inside the room, as well as the kendo, which she'd used to beat up a drunken lecher that had tried to grope her breasts. She then leaned on the railing that she had spit her tea over earlier.
Starstreak: Still being a philosophical wiseass?
Kyoichi: If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass...
Starstreak: Smartass...
Kyoichi: You know you like it, sis...
Starstreak: If a cat beckoned you with its paw you'd smack into a wall...
Kyoichi: I just rubbed off on you...
Starstreak shook her head.
Starstreak: My green tea tasted funny...YOU LACED IT WITH SAKE BEFORE I LEFT, DIDN'T YOU?!
Kyoichi: Maybe I did, or maybe it was just the evil snake in my closet...
Starstreak gave a blank look that, if put into words or punctuation marks, would only be described as ". . ."
Kyoichi: Okay...before you left out from the last place after Honor, I admit. I slipped sake into your green tea thermos.
The sounds of a hand slapping and a man whining in pain echoed in the still night air for that night.

Another night. It was another night closer to her title defense against Dune; this wouldn't be as easy as a match against a man--she could work her feminine charms there. During her musings as she perched herself on the bed, she heard a knock at the door and leaped up, knocking over another cup of green tea that had been laced with sake. Now she thought it was a relaxer...but she must have been wrong. She opens the door to see Kyoichi.
Kyoichi: Aa! konban wa, sister...nice night out, yes?
Starstreak didn't answer, instead seeming a bit shook up. Maybe too much green tea or too much sake was bad for her nerves...
Kyoichi: Sorry about the sake-lacing in your tea...
Starstreak: You meant well...
Kyoichi: Actually, I was just being a prankster there...
Starstreak: Exactly what I'd expect...typical nii-sama...
Kyoichi gave a slight chuckle.
Kyoichi: You're just nervous about your match with Dune. It's only a couple of days away, isn't it?
Starstreak: Three days. Three days away.
Kyoichi gave a concerned look, crossing his arms.
Kyoichi: Nani ga iitai no.
Starstreak: My point is...that I'm not sure if I want you to interfere. It would not be fair to my equal if I unbalance the odds.
Kyoichi gave a look of silent contemplation before stepping just outside the motel room door and looking up at the moon. Starstreak shook her head at this, but stepped outside anyway. She knew that something would be up, just like last night.
Kyoichi: Whatcha gonna do with all that junk inside that trunk?
Starstreak shook her head.
Starstreak: I knew it...you've lost it.
Kyoichi gave his philosophical voice from yesterday.
Kyoichi: Did I ever really have it to lose?
Starstreak chuckled at this.
Starstreak: I guess not...
Kyoichi: You do realize what I'm doing for you, don't you?
Starstreak: What, my favorite baka?
Kyoichi: You feeling worried anymore? Nervous?
Starstreak: d**n...can't say that I am...I guess you're not the idiot I'd pegged you to be, bro...
Kyoichi: Some pig...
Starstreak: Okay, weirdo...I'm going in.
With that, Starstreak goes in and gives a cackle as the scene fades to black.

Now Starstreak was more fired up than ever. Tomorrow night would be the night. Tomorrow would be the maker or breaker of her dreams. She sat a cup of green tea on her table, noting the sudden crack that had begun to run along the side of her cup. She paid no mind, not being as superstitious as others tended to be. She turned toward the camera, which was now pointing at her.
Starstreak: Dune, I am prepared to meet your challenge and I wish you the best of luck both as your equal and the current champion. I regret that in the end only one of us can come out the victor of the match, but I do believe that we will both come out victors in spirit, as every match will make us stronger.
She turned away to take a sip of her green tea once more, then turned to face the camera again.
Starstreak: And to you, Kyoichi, I implore you not to interfere in this match. I understand your concern as my brother, but I wish to prove myself to my equal, to my opponent, and I do not need your assistance or your interference. If you even come near the ring, I will make sure that security personally escorts you out.
She then closes her eyes and stands up, walking out of the room and shoving the camera out of her face. After a few seconds, a loud cackle can be heard down the hallway before a door slams and the scene fades to black.
